From City of Empire to City of Diversity: A Visual Journey explores Birmingham’s changing population from the granting of city status in 1889 through the 20th century and up to the present day. The Library of Birmingham holds an extensive photographic collection and the exhibition offered visitors a glimpse of migrant communities arriving from Commonwealth countries to put down roots in Birmingham.
